WEDNESDAY WANDERLUST: WILD ICE SKATING

By Paul Strubell of Dirt Orcas – 2/14/18

This weeks Wednesday Wanderlust is a full blown adventure on ice. So very cool and so very wild indeed.

I can’t say this video is a great reflection of Valentines Day, but there is plenty of ice and love in it and that should neatly cover everybody.

Still I really enjoy this this Video from Paxson Woelber. It is titled ” Wild ice”.

It is sure to stoke your spirit to get out and adventure. It might even make you fall in love with the outdoors again if you have lost your way.

You can also check out another video of “Wild Ice Skating” from National Geographic here

“Backcountry skating” is the practice of hunting for wild ice, whether on on a river, lake, glacial lagoon, or inside an ice cave. Filmed in southcentral and southeast Alaska over the course of two winters, “Wild Ice” features nordic bladers, hockey players, figure skaters, and a few adventurous puppies. Shot locations include Kenai Lake, the Portage Lagoons, Turnagain Arm, Wasilla Lake, Sheridan Glacier, Byron Glacier, and Portage Glacier.

“Wild Ice” has been featured by the Washington Post, Anchorage Daily News and more.
